Online Hackathon “Social Innovation using Technology” - VTU CPC and Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC)

 


Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC) in association with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), CPC are organising an Online Hackathon (Accelathon 2.0 Online) to be held between 12th November, 2020 to 30th November, 2020. The theme of this Hackathon is “Social Innovation using Technology”.

The intent is to promote excellence in Innovation amongst the Engineering/Graduation Students looking at various Social Challenges that our country faces.

AccelATHON 1.0 had participation of ~400 students in ~80 different teams from across various colleges in Karnataka. It churned some wonderful concepts and solutions that are also detailed in the attached paper.


Stages of the Hackathon

12th Nov (Thursday) – Hackathon Announcement and start.
12th - 23rd Nov – Students work on solution.
24th – 27th Nov – BCIC evaluation and shortlisting of top entries.
28th – 29th Nov – Shortlisted teams’ presentations – online.
30th Nov – Awards announcement.


Problem statements will be announced on the 12th November - the first day of AccelATHON.
The Broad theme is to create solutions to Social Challenges in our Country/State using Technology.

The Hackathon will be made available to students of any branch of engineering and from any year/semester and from any other stream of graduation.

Prizes

A total cash prize of Rs. 1 lac will be given out to 6 top entries

1st prize of Rs. 30,000,

2x2nd prize of Rs. 20,000 each

3x3rd prize of Rs.10,000 each

Team Size: 2-5 Students.


Awards: There will be a cash prize to top 6 winners.

Internships: There will be a number of Paid Internships that will be awarded by the industry partners through this event.

Job Offers: There is also a plan to make a number of Job Offers through this event. Prospective employers are invited to avail the opportunity. The Hackathon will act as an evaluation/curation ground for talented coders for interested employers to leverage.
